President Bush sent John Bolton's name back to the Senate today for confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Since their congressional sweep in Tuesday's mid-term election, Democrats have been preaching cooperation and a new spirit of working together to make progress for America.
The rhetoric of the last couple of days could make one think that Pelosi, Reid and crew are sincere about working with the President for the betterment of the country. Then comes the re-submission of Bolton's name. Prominent Democrats immediately called the nomination a "non-starter" and Senator Biden said the proceedings were going nowhere. So much for cooperation and working together.
In other news, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak warned against hanging Saddam Hussein for crimes against humanity. President Mubarak says he is worried that Hussein's execution could lead to an outbreak of violence in Iraq that would increase instability throughout the region. My guess is that Mubarak and other Arab leaders are worried about the precedent such an execution would set. I mean, how many of them are guilty of crimes against their own people during their autocratic reigns?
